Before You Begin: Your Hope House Recovery Client Disclaimer & Waiver

An original anime-inspired recovery hero reviewing a safety checklist with a supportive recovery team in a warm treatment room

Read First

Every recovery journey starts with one powerful move: understanding what you are doing and why.

At Hope House Recovery, we provide personalised wellness and recovery support from our treatment rooms in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. We are not a GP, physiotherapy clinic, medical practice or emergency service. We do not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease.

Our work may support relaxation, movement, recovery, energy, performance and general wellbeing. However, every person is different. Treatments may not be suitable for everyone, results vary and no particular outcome is guaranteed.

This page explains the information clients should understand before booking. It also includes a sample client acknowledgement and informed-consent form.

Important: This is an educational template, not legal or medical advice. It must be adapted for your exact services, insurance arrangements and business structure, then reviewed by a UK solicitor before being used as a binding client waiver or consent document.

Your Choice

Consent is a process, not a signature collected at the door.

You should have the opportunity to:

  • Ask questions before booking or starting.
  • Understand what a service involves.
  • Discuss potential benefits, limitations and ordinary foreseeable risks.
  • Consider reasonable alternatives, including doing nothing or speaking to your GP or another appropriate clinician.
  • Refuse, pause or stop a session at any time.
  • Change your mind without pressure.

The NHS explains that consent should be voluntary and informed. You can read its general guidance on consent to treatment and the UK Government’s reference guide to consent for examination or treatment.

Think of it like a hero checking their equipment before a quest. The brave move is not charging into the forest wearing one flip-flop and carrying a banana as a shield. The brave move is checking the map, understanding the mission and making sure the equipment fits.

You are the hero of your recovery. We are the team in your corner.

Tell Us Everything

Before your first appointment, and whenever your health changes, you must provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information.

Please tell us about:

  • Pregnancy or possible pregnancy.
  • Recent surgery, procedures or hospital treatment.
  • Current or recent injuries.
  • Diagnosed health conditions.
  • Medications, prescribed or otherwise.
  • Allergies or sensitivities.
  • Implanted devices or other relevant equipment.
  • Blood-pressure concerns.
  • Clotting or bleeding concerns.
  • Current infections or feeling acutely unwell.
  • Seizures or a history of seizures.
  • Cancer history or current cancer care.
  • Diabetes or blood-sugar concerns.
  • Respiratory conditions.
  • Ear, sinus or pressure-related problems.
  • Any other condition, symptom or concern that may affect your suitability.

This is not a complete screening list. If you are unsure whether something matters, tell us anyway.

You must follow advice from your GP, consultant, specialist nurse or other appropriately qualified clinician. We may ask you to obtain clinician clearance before starting or continuing a service, particularly before HBOT, infrared sauna, red light or infrared therapy, massage or nutritional and supplement coaching.

We may postpone, change or decline a session if we believe more information or clinical clearance is needed. That is not us being difficult. That is us checking the shield before the battle.

Our Services

HBOT

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves breathing oxygen in a pressurised chamber.

You may notice changes in pressure, particularly around the ears and sinuses. You must tell us if you have ear, sinus, respiratory, blood-pressure or other concerns, recent surgery, an infection, medication changes or any condition that may affect your suitability.

You must follow all chamber safety instructions. Do not bring unauthorised items into the chamber. We will explain the session and the actions required if you feel discomfort.

HBOT is not emergency care and is not a replacement for medical treatment.

Infrared Sauna

Infrared sauna therapy uses heat and infrared energy in a controlled setting.

Heat may not be suitable for everyone. Tell us about pregnancy, blood-pressure concerns, cardiovascular or respiratory issues, infections, medication changes, dizziness, dehydration or any other relevant condition. Follow hydration, time and temperature guidance, and stop immediately if you feel unwell.

Sports and Deep Tissue Massage

Massage involves hands-on pressure and movement of soft tissues. You may experience temporary tenderness, discomfort or sensitivity afterwards.

Tell us about injuries, recent surgery, bleeding or clotting concerns, infections, skin conditions, pain that is unexplained or worsening, pregnancy and any relevant diagnosis or medication. We will adapt or stop the session when appropriate.

Massage is not a diagnosis and is not a substitute for urgent assessment.

Red Light and Infrared Therapy

Red light and infrared therapy uses light-based and infrared equipment.

Tell us about pregnancy, medication, light sensitivity, implanted devices, seizures, cancer history, recent surgery, eye concerns or any other relevant condition. Suitability can depend on the equipment, settings and your individual circumstances. Clinician clearance may be appropriate.

Do not look directly into equipment unless instructed.

Posture Correction and Movement Support

This service provides practical movement, posture and lifestyle guidance. It is not physiotherapy, diagnosis or medical rehabilitation.

Tell us about pain, numbness, weakness, balance problems, recent injuries, surgery or symptoms that are new, severe or worsening. Stop and seek appropriate medical advice if an activity causes concerning symptoms.

Nutrition and Supplement Coaching

Nutrition and supplement coaching provides general wellness and recovery guidance. It does not diagnose nutritional deficiencies or prescribe medication.

Tell us about allergies, pregnancy, eating difficulties, kidney or liver concerns, diabetes, medications, supplements and any clinician-prescribed diet. Supplements can interact with medicines or may not be suitable for everyone. Check with your GP, pharmacist or dietitian before starting, stopping or changing supplements.

Recovery Assessments and Tracking

Assessments and tracking help you record goals, symptoms, movement, energy, training or recovery patterns. They are not medical tests or a diagnosis.

Be honest in your answers. Tracking information is only as useful as the information recorded. If your symptoms suggest an urgent concern, we will direct you towards appropriate medical support rather than attempting to manage an emergency.

WhatsApp Recovery Support

WhatsApp support may be included in selected programmes. It is for practical check-ins and general recovery guidance between appointments.

It is not emergency care. There is no guaranteed response time. Do not wait for a WhatsApp reply if you feel seriously unwell.

Avoid sending unnecessary sensitive health information, photographs or documents. If we need specific information, we will explain what is required and why. Please review WhatsApp’s own privacy information and use appropriate discretion when messaging.

Programme Consent

Our structured programmes combine several services. Each component remains subject to suitability checks and separate ongoing consent.

Inflammation & Energy Support Plan

This is a rolling recovery package with a minimum three-month commitment. It includes:

  • 12 HBOT sessions.
  • Red light and infrared therapy.
  • Nutritional coaching.

It may be considered by people seeking structured support after events, training, surgery, races, childbirth, stress, burnout or illness. It is not suitable for every person or every situation. The package does not guarantee reduced inflammation, increased energy, healing or any other result.

Athlete Recovery

This is a three-month programme for people such as fighters, runners, gym-goers and sports clubs. It includes:

  • Five HBOT sessions with red light.
  • One deep tissue or sports massage.
  • A recovery assessment.
  • A basic tracking sheet.
  • A four-week recovery plan.
  • Weekly WhatsApp check-ins.

Training load, injury status, health and recovery needs can change. We may adapt or pause parts of the programme where appropriate.
